How to assign/adjust initial funds when setting up Nota Account.
Q: What are “Initial Funds?”:
A: Initial funds represent the balance in your account when that account was linked to Nota. Whether you are a current or new M&T customer, whatever the balance is in your account when you sign up for Nota will show as “Unassigned Initial Funds.”
Q: What is the purpose of assigning these funds?:
A: The funds that are allocated as “Unassigned” on the Nota dashboard likely belong to a client matter or related bucket in your account. In order to ensure that these funds are properly reconciled, it is important to assign these funds by following the steps below.
“Unassigned initial funds” show on the bottom of the home page as seen below when you first log on to Nota:
Watch this instructional video or read the instructions below:
Step 1: To assign these funds to whichever client matter is appropriate, click on “Finish Allocating Funds:”
Step 2: From here, a new window will open allowing you to assign these funds to one or multiple client matters
We advise that you create the client matters you wish to assign funds to prior to this step (See How to Create a Client Matter). All client matters without any assigned funds will appear below in the left column listed as “Client Matters”:
Step 3: In the right column under “Initial Funds” allocate the appropriate amount to each of the client matters necessary. As the funds are assigned, the “Total” value on the bottom adjusts accordingly. If all funds are assigned, the number above the top right column will show $0.00 remaining:
NOTE: The window automatically populates with 3 blank rows to enter information. If you only need to assign funds to 1 or 2 client matters, you can simply click the X to the right as shown below:
Now, only 2 rows will appear. Repeat again if only 1 row is wanted:
Step 4: Once you have assigned the initial funds to their respective client matters, click “Save” on the bottom right. You should now no longer see the “Unassigned Initial Funds” tile on your dashboard and the funds you’ve allocated should be visible inside the client matters selected.
