When you “tag” a transaction in your trust account, it will then be assigned (and housed) with a specific client matter and remain as a transaction in the ledger for that client.
How do I tag a transaction?
From your Nota dashboard, you will see a section titled “Untagged Transactions” with a list of any debits or credits that haven’t yet been tagged (assigned) to a client matter.
Watch this instructional video or read the instructions below:
There are two ways to tag a transaction:
Manual Tagging: manually tagging a transaction(s) allows you to select a client matter from the dropdown menu (as displayed below).
If the client matter hasn’t yet been created, select “Create new client matter” from the same dropdown menu (as displayed below).
Smart Suggestion: smart suggestions become available when you log or print an outstanding check to a client matter.
-
- When that check then clears the bank, Nota will automatically display the client matter as “suggested”
- You’ll then select either the confirm ✅ button or decline X button
What happens once I tag a transaction?
After you “tag” a transaction in Nota, it will then be housed inside of the designated client matter and appear within the Client Ledger for that matter.
